Dr D Y Patil, a Padmashree recipient, and former Governor of the Indian States of Bihar, Tripura and West Bengal is the founder of the D Y Patil Group. In the realm of Education and Healthcare in the state of Maharashtra, one name stands out like a shining beacon, that of Padmashree Dr D Y Patil. His vision, dedication and passion have been indelibly influenced, by his wisdom and generosity and have left several benchmarks, be it in the schools for imparting basic education or institutes for higher learning. He has materialized his dreams under the umbrella of prestigious education institutes in Kolhapur, Navi Mumbai and Pune. Padmashree Dr D Y Patil is the Governor of Bihar since 27th Nov 2009.

He is pioneer in ushering an era of privatization of technical education in Maharashtra. He is a philanthropist, educationist and social worker and under his able guidance the Pratishthan has more than hundred academic institutes of international repute, from kindergarten to post graduation levels in various disciplines of education. His regard and respect for traditional values and openness to modern ideas, blended perfectly with his admirable personality. Humble and unassuming Dr D Y Patil is better known for his work, rather than the awards and recognition he has received over the years. For his pioneering contribution in the field of education, he was honored with the title 'Padmashree' by the President of India. He is also awarded two Doctorates in philosophy, the first by The World University Round Table (USA) in 1985 and later by Britain (UK) in 1996.

The Hostel at D Y Patil School of Management provides for innumerous experiences with Mother Nature in the form of nature trails, hikes and in house adventure camps. Not only this, the scenic landscapes provide for a natural relaxation and serves for the rejuvenation of both the mind and soul, resulting in greater zeal and energy. This area also inculcates in students life-long skills of living together with different cultural background and harbouring a feeling of acceptance and tolerance. It also inculcates mannerisms which assist each child to develop holistically and lead contented lives in the later stages of life. The Hostel is a modern structure consisting of three wings allowing for accommodation 40- 50 students in each wing. Each wing has one Television room with DVD players and space outside where students can wander, read, and sit in the sun or under the stars. The rooms situated in the Hostel is mostly set up for 4 to one room occupancy. This residence also includes a Television lounge, and a computer bay. Girls share an outdoor play area with the rest students, where they can play basketball, table tennis, and badminton.

Library is a heart of organization or institutes. Library plays vital role in the development of the students as well as the faculty members. Library is trinity of students, Staff Members & Resources. Library built collection and creates tools to support teaching and learning, To provide better service to its stakeholders. With the support of the Director, faculty and the patronage of students, DYPSOM Library has grown enormously. The total collection is more than 5000 books, nearly 400 CD’s, 350 Project reports, 60 Conference Proceedings, 149 Dissertation. There are 27 National and International Journals/Magazines and bound volumes of some prominent journals. Library has subscribed 3 English and 2 local language newspapers. These are preserved for 3 months respectively. Library is automated using Library Management Software for day to day activities. Library has enrich with the knowledge resources including Handbooks, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Fiction, Literature, Motivational, Communication Skills, Change Management, Leadership Management, Aptitude, Competitive Examination and some of religious Books. These books are very useful to students for increase their Knowledge in Communication, Personality development, Confidence and life skill, Interview Skill. Also it helps to increase their interest in reading Fiction and Biographies.
