FLAME School of Liberal Education, Pune

FLAME always encourages its students to go beyond the conventional education system and promotes co-curricular activities. FLAME encourages student participation in campus governance. The campus has a democratically elected Student Council. The Council contributes in the academic and disciplinary proceedings at FLAME. The Council has three committees, namely, Student Welfare Committee, Sports Committee and Cultural Committee, with student members from all programs at FLAME. This structure encourages student interaction and helps in developing the overall personality and leadership qualities of the students.

FLAME University has been established as a state private university vide the FLAME University Act 2014 (Maharashtra Act No. II of 2015) of the Government of Maharashtra. FLAME University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f), and degrees awarded by the University are recognized under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. It is Jain Minority Institution. FLAME has been set up with an idealistic vision and a social commitment to contribute to society in a noble manner.

FLAME has been created as an academic institution anchored in Liberal Education. It is the pioneer of Liberal Education in India. The objective of Liberal Education at FLAME is to go beyond the known and familiar structured and narrowly encapsulated forms of knowledge. The aim is to provide students a learning experience that would excite and enthuse them. The education at FLAME University rests in multiplicity and simultaneity, as well as in making active choices from all that is made available. The focus is on experiencing, learning, self-reflection and self-discovery by freeing themselves from the traditional ways of looking at things and instead to constantly question and challenge themselves, society and the world at large. The purpose is to give the country and the young generation an academic institution that fires the imagination of students to discover the magic and passion in themselves, to foster their creativity, to propel their innovativeness and determination to create, build and shape new enterprises.

Spread on 60 acres of green expanse, FLAME prepares students who have a strong desire to learn and grow continually, welcome new ideas, value diversity with desire to succeed and give their best towards excellence in all spheres of life. Its curriculum includes perspective building, skills and competencies for communication, problem-solving skills, creativity, innovation, teamwork and ethics that also meet the needs of the diverse sectors of the country. It consists of six schools: FLAME School of Liberal Education, FLAME School of Business, FLAME School of Communication, FLAME School of Fine & Performing Arts, FLAME School of Entrepreneurship and FLAME School of Investing.

FLAME faculty is an acclaimed group of scholars and researchers whose teaching is augmented by the contemporariness of their academic knowledge and real world experience. Not only are they eminently capable teachers but also compassionate mentors to students. Faculty also include members with outstanding international education background, scholarship, experience and orientation.
