Shri K. J. Somaiya proved all skeptics wrong as witnessed by the mushrooming growth of Ghatkopar as a formidable centre of middle class living. Karamshibhai laid the foundation for Somaiya Vidyavihar in 1959. In close to four and a half decades it has grown into a large educational complex with 32 institutions catering to diverse fields of education such as Humanities, Engineering, Education, Medicine, Management and Mass Communication, with more than 23000 students and 1500 teaching faculty on a throbbing 65 acre campus!

It was the vision of Shri K. J. Somaiya that modern professional education must remain true to the spirit of Indian ethos and culture. He insisted on value-based education, believing firmly that a community uncaring for its traditions is decadent and insubstantial. He was passionate about propagating the Sanskrit language and the promotion of studies in ancient Indian thought and culture. He envisaged Somaiya Vidyavihar as the Nalanda of learning where students and teachers would live in an intellectual and spiritual fellowship.

K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering envisages to become a World Class Centre of Learning in the field of Engineering Sciences where pursuit of Knowledge is leavened with Human Values of Courage and Compassion to produce Engineers in the service of Humanity.

The training and placement cell provides placement services to students through campus interviews. Many multinational and well-known Indian conglomerates regularly visit KJSCE for campus placement every year. The office of the Training and Placement Officer is housed in the Bhaskaracharya building, B002. The KJSCE has well established facilities for conducting written tests, online tests, group discussions, interviews and other activities related to training and placement.

Training and placement cell motivates and prepares the students for the interviews and prospective workplaces. Careful and systematic preparation is initiated and sustained for this purpose. The placement cell has faculty and student placement committee which takes focused and continuous efforts for Training and Placement Cell under the able guidance of TPO. This has resulted in every year all eligible students are placed. Many students also fetch multiple placements. The close rapport developed by the KJSCE with various industries has helped the student community in securing gainful employment. The track record of companies visited for campus placement in recent years is overwhelming and more than a 75+ companies visited KSCE for campus interviews and placements.
