Army College of Medical Science, Delhi

Army College of Medical Sciences Delhi Cantt is a premier medical college in India, under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society. The College provides education to under-graduate medical students. ACMS is affiliated with Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University New Delhi. The College is recognised by the Medical Council of India and has a capacity of one hundred under-graduate student admissions per year.

ACMS came into existence in 2008 to address the requirement of providing quality under-graduate medical education to wards of serving and retired Indian Army personnel. The foundation stone of the College was laid on 28 Jan 2004 by Raksha Mantri Shri George Fernandes. It was inaugurated by Raksha Mantri Shri AK Antony on 05 Jan 2009. Since inception, ACMS students have been securing top positions in University Examinations, averaging ten Distinctions in every University Examination. They have made their mark in various inter-college academic, sports and cultural competitions.

Students are made to actively participate in practical sessions to apply knowledge gained in classes. They have nearly 80 hours of Histology practicals and 240 hours of demonstrations and dissections. Our Dissection Hall is State of the art dissection hall, unique in being completely odourfree due the use of Phenoxyethanol. Phenoxyethanol is the same preservative used for vaccines, sera and cosmetics. Unlike formalin, it is non-irritant and non-carcinogenic. This is used as the preservative making the dissection hall free of pungent fumes. There are adequate number of cadavers for teaching of undergraduates. Our dissection hall boasts of a computer projection system for dissection demonstrations. Well equipped with adequate storage tanks and cooling cabinets for cadavers.

The total teaching duration of Anatomy is 680 hrs for the First profession MBBS students. The department of Anatomy is committed to participate actively in education, research and service endeavours and to share anatomical knowledge. Major activities are centered around teaching and research. State of art teaching technology is adopted in teaching and learning of all sub-specialties of anatomy. We have Didactic Lectures of 280 Hrs, Tutorials of 40 Hrs and seminars by students for 40 Hrs. Departmental Library: Our library has adequate numbers of books of latest edition which includes gross, clinical Anatomy and various other allied subjects of medicine to be used as text books and references.
