Christ University, formerly called the Christ College is an autonomous institution. Reaccredited by NAAC as A+ this university has been recognized with the Potential for Excellence by the UGC. The Christ College Bangalore, in its outlook is secular and welcomes students wholeheartedly and from every language, creed, religion and caste in being a part and parcel of the Christite family. This college was a result of the educational vision of a social reformer and educationist in South India in the 19th century, St Kuruakose Elias Chavara.
A brief history
Having its origin dating back to the 1969, the Christ College Bangalore has undertaken path breaking initiatives by introducing modern and innovative course curriculum, academic discipline, adopting higher education practices and imparting holistic education through the support of dedicated and creative staff. The UGC (University Grants Commission) conferred Autonomy in 2004 to Christ Admission. Under the section 3 in 2008 of the UGC Act, declared this university as deemed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. Counted amid the initial institutions in India for being accredited by the NAAC in 1998 and subsequently in both 2004 and 2016, this college has received the top grade A under the 4 point scale.
